Bearded dragons should not eat jalapeños or any other spicy peppers. While jalapeños are not toxic to bearded dragons, their spiciness can cause digestive upset, irritation, and discomfort. Bearded dragons have sensitive digestive systems, and their diet should primarily consist of leafy greens, vegetables, and insects that are safe and appropriate for them.
Here’s why jalapeños are not suitable for bearded dragons:
Capsaicin: The compound that makes peppers spicy can irritate their digestive tract.
High Acidity: Jalapeños are acidic, which can disrupt their stomach pH.
Nutritional Imbalance: They don’t provide the necessary nutrients bearded dragons need
Instead, focus on feeding your bearded dragon safe vegetables like collard greens, mustard greens, bell peppers (non-spicy), and squash. Always research or consult a veterinarian before introducing new foods to your pet’s diet.
